A little about me
I'm a maker, creator and Creative Director who thrives at the intersection of creativity and technology. Passionate about maintaining a high bar for product quality, and I believe that a deep understanding of technical constraints is essential to driving exceptional outcomes.
I believe good design should be simple. It goes beyond mere aesthetics and encompasses how a product or system operates.
While I obsess over the details — be it in visual or interaction design — I’ve learned that great design is a collaborative effort. It extends beyond individual contributions, involving research, engineering, product strategy, and more. I also value pragmatism, knowing that successful design often requires thoughtful compromise to balance vision with real-world constraints.
My journey has taken me to various places in the Netherlands; from Zwolle, to Eindhoven and now to a nice combination of The Hague - Wageningen - Brussels. I currently live in Gorinchem and have a Bachelor degree in Design from the Design Academy Eindhoven, a unique blend of art, graphic and industrial design.
I am fueled by curiosity and committed to achieving exceptional craftsmanship and excellence in everything I do.
Fun fact: My macOS app Quick Erase was published in MacWorld December 2005 print edition.

This URL has been my digital home for years, evolving from a blog to a portfolio and eventually settling into its current form as a single-column blog. This site is hand-coded using only HTML and CSS, with no content management system or static site generator. I do not use analytics software to measure visitors. So no tracking by third parties or myself, even via linked fonts or javascript files. Unless otherwise noted, every design element, code detail and piece of text here was created by me, Ivo.
I used TextMate for writing code on an Apple Mac mini M1. Some vector elements were designed in Sketch. For this site I researched different fonts, but currently I use a mix of Crimson Text and iA Writer Quattro S.
